Encephalitozoon cuniculi.

As a novel target organism of the cell-autonomous IRG resistance system, Jonathan Howard and colleagues identified the fungal parasite Encephalitozoon cuniculi, which while growing unrestricted incidentally formed here a heart-shaped vacuole with its spores (immunostained in red, DAPI blue). See Jonathan Howard and colleagues.
