Death and population dynamics affect mutation rate estimates and evolvability under stress in bacteria
Fig 10
Using ATREYU to compute mutation rate from mutant counts and population dynamics.
ATREYU takes as inputs the observed population dynamics (CFU counts at several time points and death rates between pairs of successive time points) and the count of mutants toward the phenotype of interest in several replicate cultures. Because it is based on simulation and does not require analytical expression of the mutant distribution, any nonstandard biological assumption (death, in our case) can easily be implemented.
