Effect of relA on Pper expression.
Transformants carrying plasmid pGM17 (Pper-lacZ) were grown overnight in LB, resuspended in DMEM and grown for 8 hours without agitation. Samples were taken every hour and assayed for (A) β- galatosidase activity and (B) growth (OD600). (▪) wild-type (LRT9); (⧫) ΔrelA (GMF204); (▾) pLG19 (relA+) in GMF204.
