Superficial lymphatic vessels and Yersinia pestis.

Superficial lymphatic vessels (green, LYVE-1) are abundant in the dermis and represent an opportunity for Yersinia pestis to escape from the skin and colonize draining lymph nodes. See Virginia Miller and colleagues.
