The strength of gametic and sexual isolation was calculated according to the indexes proposed by Chang (Ig; [22]), and Coyne and Orr (Is; [32]), respectively. Means and standard errors reflect the average of the seven lines (four replicates per line). D. yakuba lines, which in nature are allopatric to D. santomea, showed significant reproductive character displacement (triangles) when exposed to D. santomea, whereas unexposed lines (squares) experienced no change in their degree of isolation.
