The peptide orientation is determined by two angles.
The first angle is the tilt angle (τ) which is defined as the angle between the principal axis of the peptide backbone and the normal to the plane of the lipid bilayer, while the second angle is the rotation angle (φ) which is defined as the angle between the normal to the β-sheet plane and the vector normal to the lipid bilayer.
