Two-way ANOVA was used to detect the effect of strain (WT vs. L7M1) and time (Day 0, 7, and 14). (A) Results of muscle/body weight are expressed relative to the WT Day 0. (B) CSA of individual fibers in GAS muscle (expressed as μm2). Statistical comparison showed a significant denervation (time) effect in both muscle/body weight and CSA (p < .001). No strain effect or interaction was detected in any of these measures. Values are mean ± SE. Sample size: for muscle/body weight: n = 7–10 per group; for CSA: n = 5–6 per group, 200–300 individual fibers analyzed per animal.
